Many town centre properties are in poor condition. We want to explore what can be done to improve them and make them more attractive for new uses.
This will require working with building owners and finding funding for things like building repairs, painting, shopfront improvements, re-use of upper floors and so on.
As well as scoring each project for its importance, people were given the opportunity to provide other comments to help take each project forward. Below is the summary of the main points for Property Improvements project:
Many buildings are very rundown and need attention.
Good to support business, high rents are an issue too.
A more uniform look and restoring heritage would be good.
Need to work with owners and businesses.
Should public money be spent on this?
