Agreed Move Dates For Alexandria Post Office To Restore Service

Post Office Ltd has agreed to relocate Alexandria Post Office to a new, nearby, location at Wilkie & Rider Jewellers, 132 Main Street, Alexandria, G83 0NZ.
This will restore service to the community in August, after the previous branch at 98 – 100 Main Street, Alexandria, G83 0PB, closed in August 2025 due to operational reasons.
We had previously consulted on plans to re-open the branch in April at Wilkie & Rider Jewellers & Opticians, 136 Main Street, Alexandria, G83 0NZ 136, however, the postmaster decided to separate the jewellery and optician retail prior to the reopening of the Post Office.
The postmaster has completed their plans and we are now delighted to let you know that we will be re-opening the Alexandria Post Office on Tuesday 11 August at 1pm. This will be in a new location – Wilkie & Rider Jewellers, 132 Main Street, Alexandria, G83 0NZ, formerly Dragonfly Design and Print.
We are keen to restore services to this community as soon as possible, so we have decided to go ahead with our new plan. The re-opening of the branch in a new location is a commercial decision for Post Office Ltd and we are not seeking feedback on this aspect of the change. However, we are seeking feedback on access into and within the premises.
The new location is 80 metres from the previous branch. Roadside parking is available in front of the premises. As the new site is close to the previous location customers can use the same parking and buses.
Opening hours will be Monday to Friday: 9.30am – 5pm; Saturday: 9am – 2pm. This will provide 42 hours and 30 minutes of Post Office service a week for the convenience of customers.
The premises will have a wide door and level access at the entrance. Internally, there will be a hearing loop and space for a wheelchair.
