New Banking Hub Coming to Alexandria – Opening Soon on Main Street
We’re delighted to share some positive news for Alexandria town centre – a brand new Banking Hub is set to open right here in the heart of our community.
With the Bank of Scotland branch on Main Street due to close on 3 March 2026, local access to in-person banking services was a major concern for many residents and businesses. Now, thanks to the collaborative efforts of Cash Access UK, the major high street banks, and Alexandria BID, plans are confirmed for a shared Banking Hub to open in the former M&Co shop unit on Main Street.
This new facility will make everyday banking simple and convenient, offering services for customers of all major banks under one roof. It’s designed to support both personal and business banking needs and ensure no one is left behind as traditional branches close.
What the new Banking Hub will offer:
- Cash withdrawals and deposits
- Cheque lodgements and balance checks
- Bill payments and utility top-ups
- Business banking support, including change services
- Visits from Community Bankers – staff from different banks will visit on specific days each week to help with more complex services such as account queries, digital banking, or loan support.
A brand new free-to-use ATM will also be installed in the town centre, providing 24/7 access to cash.
This investment is a major boost for Alexandria, helping residents and traders alike while supporting our high street. It’s part of a nationwide initiative to maintain essential banking services in communities as the way we bank continues to evolve.
Location: Former M&Co unit, Main Street, Alexandria
Expected opening: Before the closure of the Bank of Scotland branch in March 2026 (exact date to be confirmed) We’ll continue to share updates as work progresses, including opening dates, community banker timetables, and further details on the services available. Make sure to follow Alexandria BID to stay informed.
Finally, a huge thank you to our local community and businesses, whose input ensured the hub would remain on Main Street, keeping banking services at the heart of the town centre. Your feedback has been invaluable in shaping this outcome.
