Alexandria Community Council Update: 13th June 2023

Following local media announcing that the LIDL application plans is to be decided upon at the WDC Planning Committee on Wednesday 14th June, Alexandria CC would like to clarify our position:
Together with Alexandria Traders Association we are concerned of the entrance and exit of the proposed supermarket will face away from the rest of Alexandria Town Centre and will heavily impact on footfall on local businesses who are already struggling due to recent impacts such Covid Pandemic and Cost of Living. We recommended reconsideration for the entrance and exit to be facing along with the rest of the town centre as a solution. This objection was made following our meeting on Wednesday 18th January 2023 and was confirmed as received by WDC a short time later.
