Tullichewan Tenants & Residents Association Chairperson May 2025 Update
During this period, tenants and residents have come up with a few suggestions which was raised at committee meeting last week before being shared on Facebook for views. These were a request for a “dog walking area” and potential return of regular public meetings. Both of these have their own posts on our respective Facebook platforms and open for comments.
The weekend Craft Drop-Ins are doing well, with the Family Craft Drop-In on Saturdays (1pm to 3pm at Community Flat), being the most popular. With help of suggestions from members and their parents – there have been special themes including “slime-making” and “rock painting”. The drop-in will celebrate its first anniversary this coming July and details about a special event to celebrate this will come out nearer the time.
The Adult Craft Drop-In on the Sunday (1pm to 3pm at Community Flat) has been a slow grower but is still relatively new in comparison. Both groups have their regular members and the drop-ins are a social together rather than a class. The groups are free and open to all in West Dunbartonshire. For legal reasons, children must attend with a responsible adult. Well done to Tullichewan TRA committee member Jean Mackay who runs both drop-ins for her hard work and fellow committee colleague Jan Taylor who volunteers on the Saturday.
On the WDC walkabouts, a mid-meeting discussing the previous event which took place last month, took place on 15th May. I’m pleased to say that progress has been made and long-term historic issues have been resolved. This includes an installation of a new drain in Kirkpatrick Crescent, replacement fence in McColl Avenue as well as other concerns. However, some items remain ongoing and unfortunately there has been a rise in dumping of items located all over the estate. If anyone has any new issues or enquiries about ongoing concerns please us know. The date of the next walkabout not yet agreed following the original date falling through but will announce as soon as it is confirmed. Thanks to Kevin McCrossan (WDC Housing Co-ordinator – Vale of Leven), Elaine Wyllie (WDC Housing Team Leader – Lomond), Shaun Duffy and Ryan Wilson (WDC Housing Officers – Tullichewan) as well as John Kennedy (WDC Building Services).
As advertised, Tullichewan TRA have free DVDs and books to give to the community as part of our community flat clear-out. Over the years generous tenants and residents have donated some of these items to help us on our fundraising for the Community Fund. However these items have been lying dormant in our cupboards for some years now and we would like to donate anyone who wants them – whether for personal use or their own fundraising. Please let us know if you’re interested.
