Levenvale Primary School Charity Afternoon
Kind-hearted children at Levenvale Primary School held a Charity Afternoon and raised more than £1,000 for 13 charities.
Proactive primary six pupils approached their teacher and presented a plan for the fundraiser along with ideas on what to sell and worked extremely hard to run the very successful event. Stalls organised by the pupils included self-made jewellery, tombola, cakes and sweets, Beat The Goalie, a Pokémon card sale, a toy sale and dog treat bags. Many of the stalls included marketing materials and merchandise provided by the charities who were delighted to hear of the children’s fundraising plans. The charities benefitting included The Golden Friendships, The Vale of Leven Trust, Y-Sort-It, The Ben View Centre, Kilpatrick School, Beatson Cancer Charity, The Little Princess Trust, British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK, CHAS, Crohns & Colitis UK, SSPCA and Dogs Trust.
Sharon Storrie, Head Teacher at Levenvale Primary and Early Learning and Childcare Centre, said: “I am so proud of our primary six pupils who planned, organised and set up the whole event. The children were very proactive and wrote to all the charities telling them about their event and why they had picked their charity to benefit. Along with being a fun event, the children also learned the skills of working together, time management and handling money, which are all life-long skills. I would like to thank all our pupils and our whole school community who supported us by coming along and helping the pupils to raise £1021.052, which I know will be so gratefully received by the charities picked by the pupils.
