View the new photo of the Smollet Fountain in Alexandria. This work has been going on for months, but we are nearing the end. It is one of the centre points in Alexandria. It does look amazing, and more photos will follow soon. This work has been done by GWL-Electrical
The old lamp posts will not be returning to the fountain after improvement works due to road safety reasons as confirmed by WDC Regeneration. They are being replaced by a new lighting system on the landmark.
The old lamp posts where donated to local organisations Catra Alexandria and the Vale of Leven Trust by WDC Regeneration so they remain in the area. Any further updates on relocation/new projects will be provided by both of those organisations.
Alexandria CC completely understand that this is a sensitive issue in the community given the Fountain's status as a historic landmark.
