Tullichewan Tenants & Residents Association Chairperson November 2024 Update
CHAIRPERSON UPDATE – NOVEMBER 2024 As usual, it’s been a very busy month.
Our Annual General Meeting took place on Tuesday 5th November 2024 at the Community Flat. It was an opportunity to review the previous 2023/24 year with all the work that has been done by the committee. With the help of Jennifer McKechnie, WDC Tenant Participation (financial audit and minute taking) and Councillor Hazel Sorrell (facilitation of the committee election), it was very successful meeting. Thanks to all whose who attended including former chairperson Hamish McNaught who always comes along to support us.
Our most recent walkabout with WDC took place on Friday 29th November 2024. It was very successful event and will be our last for 2024. A mid-meeting to discuss all current items will take place online in the next couple of weeks before planning for next year. Many thanks to Kevin McCrossan, WDC Housing Development – Dumbarton & Vale of Leven, Shaun Duffy, WDC Housing Officer – Tullichewan and John Kennedy, WDC Building Services for attendance and support throughout the year.
Already announced, a joint event taking place in the run-up to Christmas. Jean and Jan at the Children’s Craft Group have arranged with Nicola Snedden and Kim Manderson of the Time for Tully group for a “Christmas Crafts” event on Saturday 14th December 1pm to 3pm. This event coincides with the last Craft Group of the year before closing for the Festive Break. All up to date information on this event is available on Time for Tully’s Facebook group.
Tullichewan TRA’s current ongoing commitments:
- Monthly committee meetings on the last Tuesday of each month (except July and December)
- Enquiries – including anti-social behaviour, repairs, waste services and general signposting advice.
- Free dog poo bag and food waste bag service.
- Representation at West Dunbartonshire Tenants & Residents Organisation (WDTRO) – monthly (except July).
- Representation at WDC/WDTRO Liaison Meeting – bimonthly.
- Representation at WDC Joint Rent Group – monthly (except July)
- Representation at Alexandria Community Council – 6 weekly.
- Representation at Pre-Housing and Communities Committee (Pre-HACC) Forum – quarterly.
Tullichewan TRA thank tenants and residents, West Dunbartonshire Council Tenant Participation (Jane Mack and Jennifer McKechnie), West Dunbartonshire Council Housing (Kevin McCrossan, Elaine Wyllie, Shaun Duffy, Ryan Wilson), Councillor Hazel Sorrell, West Dunbartonshire Tenants & Residents Organisation (WDTRO), Alexandria Community Council as well as other working partners for their support. Special acknowledgements to Time for Tully (for their hard work in arranging family events in the area) and Knit and Natter (for their weekly groups on Wednesdays in the Community Flat which has just finished for the Festive Break).
