West Dunbartonshire Council Armistice Day
Remembrance Sunday services were held across West Dunbartonshire this weekend. Provost Karen Murray Conaghan led the tributes with members of the council, dignitaries and service personnel at the War Memorial at Clydebank Town Hall.
Wreath laying ceremonies took place at a number of memorial sites and cenotaphs in the area and a parade with service personnel took place in Clydebank.
Today the council also marked the annual Armistice Day today (11 November) at 11am with the traditional two-minute silence.
Armistice Day, also known as Remembrance Day, marks the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918. This day is now used to remember all the people who have died in wars including World War Two, the Falklands War, the Gulf War and conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere across the world.
