Vale of Leven Academy careers event
Vale of Leven Academy held another successful careers event last week with more than 600 students, parents and carers attending.
Over 70 colleges, universities, training providers, employers, teachers and former pupils attended to support students with careers advice and inspiration. S6 Developing Young Workforce (DYW) Ambassadors helped plan the event and visitors enjoyed catering delivered by the school’s senior students and supported by the Home Economics Department.
Music was provided by senior student DJs. Feedback from stakeholders has been very positive and will support students with their option process in the coming weeks and inform students who plan to leave school and sustain a positive destination.
Vale of Leven Academy has a strong desire to develop and equip young people to prosper in their future career and have a very strong partnership with the school’s Senior Phase Team composed of school staff, Skills Development Scotland Careers Advisors and DYW Coordinators. The school is proud to promote and celebrate wider achievement related to work placements, industrial visits, employability workshops and mock interviews with employers. This important area of focus continues to go from strength to strength and is only possible with the support from business partnerships some generated from parental and former pupil support which the school is very grateful for.
Vale of Leven Academy Head Teacher, Matthew Boyle, said: “We are committed to helping young people achieve positive destinations and continually strive to develop and strengthen relationships between schools, local businesses, and wider educational partners. Our aim is to empower young people and establish strong foundations for their future success. Staff and young people have worked hard to deliver the Careers Event, which plays a vital role in providing young people with exciting opportunities to explore diverse and inspiring career pathways.”
